The Missing Piece in Modern Parenting
The parents in your audience have already tried everything. They’ve tried time-outs, counting to three, warning after warning, over-talking every situation, and every recommendation their own parents handed down. Nothing has worked. They worry they’re messing up their kids, and they fear their children will resent them when they’re grown.
In this talk, Dr. Jill offers a different starting point.
Your child’s behavior might have a different meaning than you think it does. The tantrum that looks like manipulation is often exhaustion, hunger, or anxiety about change. And the advice parents hear most today, gets a respectful challenge: children feel more secure when a parent can hold a boundary with a swift, firm no. Kids who act out are often searching for where the boundary is.
Audiences follow the story of one family’s transformation, from a living room full of thrown toys to a mother finally grieving the child she imagined so she could love the child she has.
Your audience walks away with
- A new way to interpret your child’s most frustrating behaviors, and what a tantrum might really be telling you
- The confidence to hold a firm, loving no, and the reason it makes your child feel more secure
- An understanding of why the same child can push one parent’s buttons and never the other’s
- One practice to start that same night
- Permission to stop following advice that was never built for your child
