Does any of this sound familiar?

There’s one child who pushes every button you have, and you’ve started to dread the time you spend together.

You’ve tried the quick fixes from the parenting books, and they only ever work for a little while.

You keep doing the same things over and over, hoping this time will somehow be different.

You lead with consequences and punishments that never seem to work, and you hear yourself yelling more than you ever thought you would.

You try to parent all your kids exactly the same way because it feels fair, and it isn’t working for any of them.

You worry about what everyone else thinks of your parenting, and some nights you lie awake wondering if you’re failing as a parent.

She has a great connection for working through whatever he is dealing with and now a few years later he asks to see her when he is going through any new challenges. She was a blessing for our son!

Your child changes when you do.

I’m Dr. Jill Thurber. I’ve spent 25 years as a clinical child and adolescent psychologist, helping families understand what’s really driving the behavior that’s wearing them down. I created this program for parents who want a deeper, more rewarding connection with their child, and who are ready to understand what’s truly driving the struggle by looking deeply at themselves and their child.

Here’s what I tell every parent I work with: there’s good news and bad news, and it’s the same news. You have to make the change. Your child can’t lead this. But when you do, everything starts to move.

The Integrated Parent Experience

Length
Six months
Sessions
Twelve · 60 minutes
Cadence
Every other week
Where
Zoom, wherever you live

The Integrated Parent Experience is six months of one-on-one coaching with me. We meet over Zoom every other week for 60-minute sessions, which gives you time between our conversations to practice what you’re learning with your child. Over those six months, we get to know two people really well: you and your kid. You’ll understand why this child pushes your buttons, what’s really driving the behavior, and how to parent in a way that actually fits your family.

You don’t need to arrive with anything figured out. You just need to be ready to slow down and look at your family with fresh eyes. That’s why everything begins with you. In my work, the parent is the intervention.

Imagine…

  • Waking up and not bracing yourself for the first fight of the day.
  • Looking forward to the time you spend with your most difficult child.
  • Staying calm through a public meltdown without caring who’s watching.
  • Having energy left at the end of the day for your partner, your friends, and yourself.
  • Your home feeling peaceful, even on the hard days.
  • Remembering why you wanted to become a parent in the first place.

This is what becomes possible when your relationship with your child is healthy, secure, and built on truly understanding each other.

Your kids will notice.

Here’s the part I love most. Your kids will notice. They’ll see a parent who is less stressed, who doesn’t yell nearly as often, who smiles more, and who wants to be with them for more than just telling them what to do.

Dr. Thurber helped me stop blaming myself for not understanding why the usual scripts wouldn’t work with my child. I was able to relax and trust my instincts more in my own parenting.

Questions parents ask

Where do we meet?

Over Zoom.

How often will we talk?

Every two weeks.

When are sessions available?

Coaching sessions are available bi weekly on Thursdays from 2-8pm central time.

Do you work with families outside San Antonio?

I can do parent coaching outside of San Antonio.

Can I reach you between sessions?

Yes. You can always email me if the question isn’t urgent. If you need a response the same day, you can text me on WhatsApp Monday through Friday, 9-5pm central time.

Does my child come to the sessions?

Your child does not need to participate in the parent coaching sessions.

Do I need to have things figured out before we start?

You do not need to have the problem figured out ahead of time. Our initial consult helps clarify the direction for parent coaching sessions.

Ready when you are.

This program isn’t for everyone. If you’re looking for five simple steps that work the same for every kid, I won’t be the person you’re looking for. But if you’re ready to slow down, look deeply at yourself and your child, and try different tools for each kid in your home, I would love to meet you.

The Integrated Parent Experience is limited to a small number of families at a time. Fill out the application below, and I’ll personally read it and get back to you within a few days.
